# Jaspers Terminal

The agentic terminal for public markets.

Jaspers Terminal is an open-source desktop workspace for the people who work public markets: professional investors, quants, and traders. Say what you want to see, and its assistant puts the right view on the grid, fills it with market and alternative data, and keeps it current with the market. It uses the Model Context Protocol as its standard interface, so any MCP server plugs straight in.

## Why a terminal

ChatGPT and Claude answer in a thread. Markets happen on a screen: charts you refine as you think, prices that stay current, several names open at once. In Jaspers, the assistant works the screen itself, reading what every view shows and changing it as you ask.

## A coding agent, built in

Jaspers connects to any data source with an API, because it writes the connection itself. Ask for what nothing installed provides, like "chart the 10-year Treasury yield from FRED", and its coding agent researches the API, writes the data source and the views, fixes its own build errors, and tests each source with a real call. Then the chart lands on your grid. You approve the hosts, keys, and packages it may use, and the app holds every line it writes to that list.

## Jaspers Hub

Find plugins and skills on [Jaspers Hub](https://hub.jsprai.com), and publish and share your own from Settings, including the plugins the coding agent built for you. Hub reviews every version before it is listed. Review checks listing standards — the declared security envelope and metadata — not a plugin's accuracy, quality, security, or fitness for any purpose. Plugins and skills are third-party content, provided as is. See the [Terms of Use](https://jsprai.com/terms).

## Bring your own model, or use Jaspers One

Run on Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Amazon Bedrock, OpenRouter, any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, or a local model through Ollama. Or skip the setup: sign in with Jaspers One, and the model, voice, web search, and Discover are ready in one step. Pin the model you trust for analysis and let scheduled work run on a cheaper one.

## The grid

Your workspace is a grid, lettered and numbered like a spreadsheet and laid out like a trading screen. Every tile is a piece of work with its own agent and conversation, and they run side by side. Refine one from its command line ("log scale", "add the 200-day average"), close it, and reopen it later with its views and conversation intact. Use the empty cells for Excel formulas, NPV and IRR included. Keep one workspace for screening and another for a single name.

Schedule work in plain words: "every morning at nine, screen for software companies growing fast." In Pro mode the assistant can run shell scripts you approve, confined by macOS to a folder of its own. Where that sandbox is unavailable, nothing runs.

## Plugins and MCP

Built-in tables, charts, and metrics show whatever an MCP server returns, so a server needs no interface of its own; one that ships its own as an MCP App has it shown right on the grid. For a view of your own, `@jaspers-ai/sdk` is a small React API: define a source, define a view. Plugin views run sandboxed with no network, and plugin code gets only the capabilities it declares. Jaspers uses open standards instead of inventing its own: MCP for data and interfaces, Agent Skills for workflows.

## Market and alternative data

A connector does the integration work once: authentication, pagination, rate limits, field names. Exchange and licensed feeds, web sources, and internal datasets all connect the same way.

Everything the Terminal fetches is kept in one SQLite file on your machine, stamped with what was asked and when. The assistant queries across all of it with SQL, so two vendors line up in one answer and a phrase from last week's filing is one search away. Open the same file in DuckDB or pandas. Citations show the source's own words, never the model's retelling, so they cannot be misquoted.

Jaspers' own market data takes no private path: it installs and runs like any other plugin. Discover covers about 7,100 US public companies with fundamentals, valuation, ownership, a qualitative reading of their SEC filings, and a knowledge graph linking filing text and XBRL data to a risk-factor ontology. Research puts a team of analysts on one listed company in parallel and answers with verified citations.

## Open source and availability

Jaspers Terminal is free, open-source under the Business Source License 1.1, and complete without a Jaspers subscription. Use it at home or at work, read how any source is queried, or change any plugin; the one thing the license forbids is offering the Terminal itself, or a fork of it, to others as a product or service. Each version becomes MIT four years after its release. Discover and Research are hosted, metered, and optional.

Available for macOS and Windows. Your keys, data, and history are stored on your machine, not ours. The download, source, and plugin docs go live here at release.
