# Connectors quickstart

Jaspers gives AI assistants two connectors over SEC data: **Jaspers Screener**, which finds US public companies by their numbers and reads a short list's filings against criteria in words, and **Jaspers Research**, which reads one company's filings in depth and cites every quote to sec.gov. This guide covers the two servers, the clients that connect to them, what an account needs, and the docs written for language models.

## MCP servers

Both are hosted MCP servers that sign in with a Jaspers account over OAuth, so there is nothing to install: point your client at the address, sign in once, and ask.

| Connector | Address | For |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Jaspers Screener | `https://s.jsprai.com/mcp` | Screening about 7,100 SEC registrants, then reading the short list's filings against your criteria |
| Jaspers Research | `https://r.jsprai.com/mcp` | Searching, reading and citing one company's SEC filings, Form 4s and 13D/Gs included |

Pick your tool for setup, a first test and troubleshooting:

- [Claude](https://jsprai.com/connectors/claude): Claude on the web, desktop and mobile, as a custom connector.
- [Claude Code](https://jsprai.com/connectors/claude-code): Screen and research companies from your terminal.
- [ChatGPT](https://jsprai.com/connectors/chatgpt): Add Jaspers to ChatGPT as a custom MCP plugin.
- [Codex](https://jsprai.com/connectors/codex): Give OpenAI's Codex CLI SEC data while it codes.
- [Gemini CLI](https://jsprai.com/connectors/gemini-cli): Add Jaspers to Google's Gemini CLI.

### How it works

Each connector is a small set of tools that build on each other, rather than one tool per question.

- **Screener** keeps a screen as a session: each call narrows it with the complete set of filters, and when the list is small enough Claude starts a qualitative run, which reads every company's newest 10-K and 10-Q against your yes/no criteria in the background. An interactive view follows the run, and each verdict carries quotes checked against the filing.
- **Research** works on one company at a time. A company you ask about for the first time is loaded from SEC EDGAR, which takes a few minutes, and the assistant follows the loading for you. Then it searches by meaning or by keyword, reads whole passages, queries the filings by section and form, and finishes with `show_citations`, which checks each quote against the filing and shows it with its sec.gov link.

Every Research tool only reads. Screener's only writes are your own screens and runs, saved to your account; nothing is ever sent, traded or changed anywhere else.

### Accounts and access

- A Jaspers account, created the first time you sign in at https://account.jsprai.com, with an email code or a password.
- Each connector is a subscription on that account, and a new account starts with a preview. Plans, usage and billing are on your account page, https://account.jsprai.com/auth/account.
- Without Screener on your account, every Screener tool is still listed and each call says a subscription is needed. Without Research, the Research server answers that your account does not include it.
- The assistant's access renews itself every hour, so you sign in once. Disconnect any app from your account page; its access ends within the hour.

### Limits

- Coverage is US SEC registrants. Figures are as fresh as the latest filing, or the price or trade date each tool reports.
- A qualitative or options run on a long list takes minutes; the assistant follows it and reports as results arrive.
- Neither connector gives investment advice, and neither trades or moves money.

## Every tool

### Jaspers Screener

| Tool | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Guide to the data (`get_guide`) | Coverage, freshness, caveats, and what each field means |
| Company snapshot (`get_company`) | One company's fundamentals, holders, insider activity and filings |
| Screen companies (`screen_companies`) | Filter the universe on any field, narrowing over several turns |
| Start the qualitative stage of a screen (`start_qualitative_screen`) | Read every company on a short list against criteria in words |
| Progress and results of a qualitative run (`get_qualitative_screen`) | Verdicts as they arrive, each with quotes verified against the filing |
| Read a run's evidence (`read_evidence`) | The passages behind a verdict |
| Start the options stage of a screen (`start_options_screen`) | Find listed options on a short list that meet your rules |
| Progress and results of an options run (`get_options_screen`) | Contracts as they are found |
| Follow a run (`follow_run`) | The interactive view of a run |
| Cancel a run (`cancel_run`) | Stop a run you no longer need |

Figures come from SEC filings, prices from Yahoo Finance, and options from Databento.

### Jaspers Research

| Tool | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Guide to the data (`get_guide`) | How the filings and the Filing Database are organized |
| Search filings by meaning (`search_filings`) | Semantic search over one company's filings |
| Search filings by keyword (`keyword_search_filings`) | Exact-term search over one company's filings |
| Fetch filings (`fetch_filings`) | The structured content of each filing, by form, year or quarter |
| Read a filing chunk (`fetch_chunk`) | The full text of one passage and its neighbors |
| Query the Filing Database (`query_filings`) | Filings and their sections, by form and field |
| Aggregate the Filing Database (`aggregate_filings`) | Counts and summaries across a company's filings |
| Distinct values in the Filing Database (`get_distinct_values`) | The sections, forms or periods there are |
| Count filings in the Filing Database (`count_filings`) | How many filings match |
| Company loading status (`get_company_status`) | How far a company's first load has got |
| Show citations (`show_citations`) | Checks each quote against the filing and shows it with its sec.gov link |

## LLM friendly documentation

Every page here has a Markdown twin: add `.md` to its address, as in https://jsprai.com/connectors/claude.md, or ask for `Accept: text/markdown`.

| Document | Address |
| --- | --- |
| Index for AI readers | https://jsprai.com/llms.txt |
| The whole site in one file | https://jsprai.com/llms-full.txt |
| Endpoints, authentication and conventions for agents | https://jsprai.com/agents.md |
| Screener server card | https://jsprai.com/.well-known/mcp/server-card.json |
| Research server card | https://jsprai.com/.well-known/mcp/research-server-card.json |

## Choosing the right connector

| You want to | Use |
| --- | --- |
| Find companies that meet numeric criteria | Screener |
| Check a list of companies against a question in words, with quotes | Screener |
| See 13F institutional holders, or insider activity across many companies | Screener |
| Read what one company's filings say, or how their wording changed | Research |
| Pull a company's Form 4, 13D or 13G transactions one by one | Research |
| Cite every figure and quote to the filing on sec.gov | Either; Research checks each quote you cite with `show_citations` |

Most work uses both: screen with the first, then go deep on what it finds with the second.

## Next steps

1. Connect a client: [Claude](https://jsprai.com/connectors/claude), [Claude Code](https://jsprai.com/connectors/claude-code), [ChatGPT](https://jsprai.com/connectors/chatgpt), [Codex](https://jsprai.com/connectors/codex) or [Gemini CLI](https://jsprai.com/connectors/gemini-cli). Any other client that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in connects the same way: give it the address and sign in.
2. Check your plan and preview on your account page, https://account.jsprai.com/auth/account.
3. Building an agent of your own? The endpoints, OAuth discovery and conventions are in https://jsprai.com/agents.md.
