# ChatGPT setup

Jaspers Screener and Jaspers Research connect to ChatGPT as custom MCP server plugins: you add each server by its address, and ChatGPT calls it from any chat where you pick it.

Setup takes a few minutes on ChatGPT on the web and needs a Jaspers account, which you create when you first sign in. In a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, an admin may need to allow custom MCP servers first.

## What you can do

After setup, you can ask ChatGPT to:

- Find S&P 500 companies with gross margins above 60% and revenue growth above 20%.
- Check which companies on a short list depend on a single supplier, with quotes from their filings.
- Summarize what a company's latest 10-K says about its biggest risks, with each passage cited to sec.gov.
- List a company's insider purchases over the past year, from its Form 4 filings.

## Setup

### 1. Add the server

Open **Plugins** in ChatGPT on the web (https://chatgpt.com/plugins), select **+**, then **Add custom MCP server**. Give it a name, such as Jaspers Research, and under **Connection** enter the **Server URL**:

Jaspers Screener

```
https://s.jsprai.com/mcp
```

Jaspers Research

```
https://r.jsprai.com/mcp
```

For authentication choose **OAuth**, and leave the client ID and secret empty: ChatGPT registers itself with Jaspers. Read the warning, select **I understand and want to continue**, then **Create as a plugin**. Add the other server the same way if you want both.

### 2. Install it and sign in

The new plugin is listed under your plugins. Install it, and when ChatGPT sends you to the Jaspers sign-in page, sign in with an email code or a password and approve the connection.

### 3. Use it in a chat

Type `@` in the message box and pick the Jaspers plugin, then ask your question. Every Research tool and most Screener tools only read, so they run without asking; ChatGPT asks you to confirm before Screener starts or cancels a run.

## Test the integration

- "@Jaspers Screener find Nasdaq-100 companies with net margins above 25%."
- "@Jaspers Research what does Microsoft's latest 10-K say about competition in cloud? Cite the passages."
- "@Jaspers Research list the Form 4 purchases at NVIDIA in the past year."

## Troubleshooting

**"OAuth failed: invalid_target".** The plugin was created at an older Jaspers address. Delete it and create it again at exactly `https://s.jsprai.com/mcp` or `https://r.jsprai.com/mcp`, with no trailing slash.

**The plugin shows a broken icon, or old tools.** Open the plugin's page in settings and use its refresh option to pull the current tools and details from the server. If the icon stays broken, delete the plugin and create it again.

**ChatGPT answers without calling Jaspers.** Pick the plugin with `@` and name it in your prompt, for example "use Jaspers Research".

**A tool answers that a subscription is needed, or that your account does not include research.** Your Jaspers account has no plan or preview for that connector. See your account page, https://account.jsprai.com/auth/account.

**A company "is loading".** Research loads a company from SEC EDGAR the first time anyone asks about it, which takes a few minutes. Ask ChatGPT to check the company's loading status and try again.
