# Claude Code setup

Jaspers Screener and Jaspers Research connect to Claude Code as remote MCP servers over HTTP, so Claude Code can screen US public companies and read their SEC filings while it works: in a research notebook, a backtest, a data pipeline, or a plain question at the prompt.

There is nothing to install beyond Claude Code. Setup takes a minute and needs a Jaspers account, which you create when you first sign in.

## What you can do

After setup, you can ask Claude Code to:

- Screen the S&P 500 for companies with gross margins above 60% and write the tickers to a CSV.
- Collect every going-concern or material-weakness mention in a company's filings since 2021 into a markdown table, with a sec.gov link per row.
- Read a company's latest 10-K risk factors and write a one-page brief with citations to sec.gov.
- Build a table of a company's insider purchases from its Form 4 filings.

## Setup

### 1. Add the servers

Run these in your terminal. `--scope user` makes them available in every project; leave it out to add them to the current project only.

### 2. Sign in with Jaspers

Start Claude Code, run `/mcp`, choose `jaspers-screener`, and select **Authenticate**. Your browser opens the Jaspers sign-in page: sign in with an email code or a password, and approve the connection. Then do the same for `jaspers-research`.

Claude Code keeps the sign-in and renews it on its own, so you sign in once.

## Test the integration

Check that both servers are connected:

Then try a few prompts:

- "Use jaspers-screener to find Nasdaq-100 companies with net margins above 25%."
- "With jaspers-research, what does Apple's latest 10-K say about supplier concentration? Cite the passages."
- "Screen for S&P 500 companies whose revenue grew over 20% last year and save the result as screen.csv with each company's fiscal period end."

## Troubleshooting

**`/mcp` shows a server as failed or needing authentication.** Select it and choose **Authenticate** again, and finish the sign-in in the browser.

**An authorization error that names the resource.** The server was added at an older Jaspers address. Remove it with `claude mcp remove jaspers-research` and add it again at `https://r.jsprai.com/mcp`.

**A tool answers that a subscription is needed, or that your account does not include research.** Your Jaspers account has no plan or preview for that connector. See your account page, https://account.jsprai.com/auth/account.

**A company "is loading".** Research loads a company from SEC EDGAR the first time anyone asks about it, which takes a few minutes. Claude Code follows the loading with `get_company_status`.
