# Gemini CLI setup

Jaspers Screener and Jaspers Research connect to Gemini CLI as remote MCP servers over HTTP, so Gemini can screen US public companies and read their SEC filings from your terminal.

There is nothing to install beyond Gemini CLI. Setup takes a minute and needs a Jaspers account, which you create when you first sign in.

## What you can do

After setup, you can ask Gemini CLI to:

- Screen the S&P 500 for companies with gross margins above 60% and write the tickers to a CSV.
- Summarize what a company's latest 10-K says about its biggest risks, citing each passage to sec.gov.
- Compare how a company described a risk across its last three annual reports.
- List the insider purchases at a company over the past year, from its Form 4 filings.

## Setup

### 1. Add the servers

`--scope user` makes them available in every project; leave it out to add them to the current project only.

```
gemini mcp add --transport http --scope user jaspers-screener https://s.jsprai.com/mcp
gemini mcp add --transport http --scope user jaspers-research https://r.jsprai.com/mcp
```

Or add them to `~/.gemini/settings.json` yourself:

```
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "jaspers-screener": { "httpUrl": "https://s.jsprai.com/mcp" },
    "jaspers-research": { "httpUrl": "https://r.jsprai.com/mcp" }
  }
}
```

### 2. Sign in with Jaspers

Start Gemini CLI and run:

```
/mcp auth jaspers-screener
/mcp auth jaspers-research
```

Each opens your browser on the Jaspers sign-in page: sign in with an email code or a password, and approve the connection. Gemini CLI finds the sign-in on its own, keeps it, and renews it.

## Test the integration

Check that both servers are connected and list their tools:

```
/mcp list
```

Then try a few prompts:

- "Use jaspers-screener to find Nasdaq-100 companies with net margins above 25%."
- "With jaspers-research, what does Microsoft's latest 10-K say about competition in cloud? Cite the passages."
- "List the Form 4 purchases at NVIDIA in the past year."

## Troubleshooting

**The servers don't appear.** Check that `settings.json` is valid JSON, then restart Gemini CLI or run `/mcp reload`.

**Sign-in didn't complete, or it asks again.** Run `/mcp auth` with the server's name and finish the sign-in in the browser.

**An authorization error that names the resource.** The server was added at an older Jaspers address. Remove it with `gemini mcp remove jaspers-research` and add it again at `https://r.jsprai.com/mcp`.

**A tool answers that a subscription is needed, or that your account does not include research.** Your Jaspers account has no plan or preview for that connector. See your account page, https://account.jsprai.com/auth/account.

**A company "is loading".** Research loads a company from SEC EDGAR the first time anyone asks about it, which takes a few minutes. Ask Gemini to check the company's loading status and try again.
